Course Description: What is the master narrative of your life? What kind of hero are you and what are you questing for? Who are the villains? Who are your allies? These are just some of the questions that we will consider as we "surf" the stories that have shaped our present personal realities. Drawing from mythic story structure, narrative psychology and her experience as a storyteller, Laura will coach the group through an adventurous blend of autobiographical writing, creativity exercises, guided visualization, oral and non-verbal storytelling exercises, and group discussions. By the end of the weekend, participants will have a substantial collection of autobiographical stories to take home as well as a fresh sense of themselves as active storytellers. No writing experience is necessary, just a desire to better understand and give shape to your personal story. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat or blanket plus a large notebook to each class.
