Money & Me (60 minutes, K-7) Book now money@agentstory.net Promoting the development of financially literate and fiscally
responsible citizens... Does money have a story to tell? It sure does and the
sooner kids hear it, the better! Inspired by the increasing complexities of investment
products and a growing concern for financial literacy in Canada (e.g. 2010 Task Force
on Financial Literary), Laura has put together an Agent Story show that reaches beyond current curriculum
objectives to get elementary school students excited and curious about
money: earning it, spending it wisely, sharing it, and growing it for the future!
Fiscal responsibility--we should be teaching this to kids that are five years old!
As with every Agent Story performance, the "Special Agents" will be encouraged to participate in every step of
the top-secret storytelling mission and to "own" and retell the stories they hear during the show. Because
it focuses on economics, personal finance management and encourages the practice of storytelling, The
Money Show makes a lively and memorable addition to your social studies and language arts
curriculum.
Beyond the classroom...The Agent Story Money Show is also well-suited
for a family audience. At the end of each show, the "Special Agents" are given a
take-home storytelling mission that will help them talk to their parents or caregivers about the
things they learned about money during the show. To reinforce this, Laura is creating a series of YouTube
shows.
Great Canadian Mysteries Show (60 minutes, K-7)
First performed for Ontario 2009 Summer Library Tour This comical and
interactive one-woman show introduces children to both mythical and mysterious Canadian creatures like sasquatches,
lake monsters, spirit bears, and sturgeons with an emphasis on environmental protection. Some of the highlights
include an imaginary hunt for a prehistoric lake monster with a litterbug Cryptozoologist and an interview with a
garbage-collecting Sasquatch.
The stories in this show are a blend of historical fact, legend and Laura's original fiction. Aside from getting
to know some very interesting animals and learning about Canada's mythical creatures, children are encouraged to
respect and protect our amazing wilderness. With it's distinctly Canadian flavour and unique blend of storytelling,
natural science and history, this show is an entertaining supplement to your school's social studies, science and
language arts curricula. __________________________
Kindergarten Readiness (30 minutes, pre-K & K)
First performed for Ready, Set, Learn Elementary School Programs
In this popular show, Agent Story goes undercover as Friedrich Froeble, the German teacher-visionary who launched
the kindergarten movement in the 1840s, to tell the story of how kindergarten began. Learning activities like candy
math, classroom gardening and dancing for fitness, plus an emphasis on the importance of play in learning make this
show ideal for ages 4-6. From start to finish, children are encouraged to move, sing-a-long, follow-the-leader, and
participate in the story. Along the way, Agent Story shares some interesting facts about the early history of
kindergarten, making this show engaging for parents and teachers as well. __________________________
