What this contest means to
me...
The JA Short Story Contest is a chance for me to let others read my writing, and to have fun!
Before I entered the 2009 contest last year, I only showed my stories to my family and a few of my
friends, so I didn't know how my writing compared to other peoples'. Little did I know that I would
win first place!

What
this contest means to me...
It means quite a lot to me. Sometimes you feel that you're all alone with writing, and you
dont' know if you're going on the right track. This is also important to me because it's really the
first time I've written a piece that related so directly to my personal experiences. Usually my
stories are fantastical and inspired completely from my imagination.
I would like to thank Laura for making this contest so well run. I have been involved in other
contests but none of them have been so nice to the contestants - the daily updates, the regular
emails - and I really appreciated it.
